Though to take on a series that requires his wizardry on a weekly basis is something else.Finally TV has provided a reason to live!As a child of the 80′s, I was amazed with he theatrical offerings of Romero and the Dawn of the Dead films, that were only available to me in rental or movie attendance.Not only did they see the potential of THE WALKING DEAD as a feature, but once they committed to it they didn’t pull any stops and went full-on balls-to-the-wall in developing it.I’ll go as far to say that “The Walking Dead” is not the “only” great thing on TV these days with so many horror driven programs popping up, it’s definitely one of the better.
Their first (and probably best) move was hiring Frank Darabont, the only man to really successfully bring Stephen King’s books to the big screen.But I do wanna note that AMC really deserves some praise here.What can I say about THE WALKING DEAD?To bring you up to speed a bit, the breakout AMC series is based on the graphic novels by Robert Kirkman who was later replaced by Charlie Adlard all under the Image Comics realm.

“Win Win” could have been the cliched sports inspiring film. It had its goals set when the kid Kyle (Alex Shaffer) enters the life of Mike. It would step up to end in that major game to resolve the emotional and superficial problems of the characters. Yet it does not. Kyle has bleached blonde hair, tattoos in his back and an eerie terse response that goes with all this. He fled away from his Mom in Ohio and comes to stay with his grandpa Leo (Burt Young) he never met. Leo is suffering from dementia. He is the client of Mike whom Mike conveniently played the system to be his guardian so that he can put the old man in a retirement home the state planned to put in anyway and get the commission for taking care of him.
Kyle is a teenager and a spooky one but we come to understand him and see him at his best in the sport. He becomes the encouraging factor for the life surrounding Mike. See it is not alone Mike who needed a win but the people associated with him. I have been recently participating in decently competitive sport for fitness and fun. Being in it made me remember how it was to win something. During my college years winning a music competition meant the world. Not to be known or popular but simply the feeling of being basked in the warmth of achieving gets you up, running and kick the hell out of anything. While I have immersed myself into several of those brainless sports film against my brother’s passionate hate towards that, “Win Win” is the film which truly shapes it up inside of you.
This is Thomas McCarthy’s third film and he goes for merrier ride than his previous two films which I think is an information than a statement or criticism. He has a knack for lonely souls and he knows the happy souls who can kindle the vacated happiness in those solitary people. Mike is a family man with simple life and making ends meet. To him as like others including me being ultimately control of something. In the living ritual of furthering social existence it appears that the feeling has long gone without even leaving residues of its existence from the school days.
Finally there comes Kyle’s mom Cindy (Melanie Lynskey) out of rehab and has all the judgments in the world shed upon by Jackie. We are revealed sparse information of the scenario Cindy, Kyle and Leo are in. Leo was not a great father from what Cindy tells while she has not been a great mother for Kyle and in between them is this young kid. He becomes Mike’s family and in the end when Cindy accepts a deal with heavy heart we do not despise her but understand her with a judgment. That is the beauty of McCarthy’s films wherein there are not branded bad people but humans doing small and huge mistakes to regret, repent and redeem.

Director Satyajit Bhatkal presents Darsheel in a character that Hindi film audiences haven’t witnessed before. Though the concept is fresh, the dilapidated mansion in the film reminds you of Vishal Bhardwaj’s MAKDEE. Like I pointed out at the outset, Bhatkal has executed the film like an accomplished storyteller, but how one wished the written material was equally arresting. Besides, the film could’ve done without a few songs. Cinematography is eye-catching, while the effects are well implemented.
The story itself is quite simple and heart warming, based on the age old adage of how good always triumphs over evil, albeit with a little help from science in this case. An orphaned boy from the hills, Kunal (Darsheel), is left all alone in the big bad city after his evil uncle Deshraj (Anupam Kher) conveniently loses him in an amusement park and declares him dead in order to get his paws on Kunal’s inheritance. Saved from scruffy beggars by a vagabond named Kittu (Manjari Fadnis), Kunal finds some solace in her company and quickly settles into her temporary home, an abandoned godown storing film sets and costumes! When he finally decides to head ‘home’, unforeseeable circumstances result in Kunal making his way back to Jhumjhum Makadstrama all alone. Dejected after the villagers consider him to be a ghost, Kunal makes his way to the abandoned bhoot bangla where he encounters Magic Uncle. A spurned scientist who wants to exact revenge upon Deshraj and free the superstitious villagers from his clutches, Magic joins forces with Kunal to create Zokkomon. Over time, the superhero becomes an inspiration for all the suppressed children of the village, helping alleviate the fear of the supernatural and exposing the conniving Deshraj.

No film studio would want to produce a complicated and ultimately depressing story about how greed nearly took down Wall Street and the entire economic infrastructure of first-world countries. Gordon Gekko is one thing, a cadre of people -- real people -- far worse than he is probably not going to be a popcorn movie.

"Innocents Lost" really breaks no new ground, just tells another chapter. Stone, now retired, is still trying to find an inner equanimity and peace. Seeing an unorthodox therapist, consorting with a younger woman, staying grounded with his old colleagues--Jesse's existence is a quiet one. When a young girl whom Jesse feels responsible for ends up dead in an apparent overdose, he feels deep guilt and sets out to determine what went awry. He is also asked to consult on a murder case in the city where the police feel that their suspect is innocent. Retirement doesn't seem so uneventful after all! The story leads to some unexpected places--as the girl's life spiraled out of control, several key factors and nefarious influences led her astray. But how far is Jesse willing to take his off-the-books investigation, and to what purpose?
Those who have followed the series will see plenty of familiar and expected faces. Most noteworthy, we see his former co-workers (Kathy Baker and Kohl Sudduth) adjusting to the new Paradise Police Chief. But despite some nice moments, this remains very much Selleck's show! Jesse Stone must surely be one of the most laid back heroes to ever grace the small screen and Selleck has perfected the minimalism necessary to make this character stand out. In the film world of quick cut editing, these films defy expectation by unfolding at a very leisurely pace. "Innocents Lost" fits comfortably into its place in the Stone lexicon. This one is less about mystery and intrigue and more about spending time with Selleck and Stone--a pairing that has become virtually iconic.

Despite it’s imperfections, On Stranger Tides is a must-see for fans of the Pirates series. Although this chapter doesn’t capture the magic of that first film that more or less turned Jack Sparrow into a movie icon, it does have some decent action, it has some sensational and rather pissed off mermaids and it has an interesting take on the elusive Fountain of Youth. I would probably have suggested to the filmmakers that they cut out the whole love story involving the mermaid and a dude named Philip, who really seemed to have no real purpose in the movie other than to make a mermaid cry. They probably could have tickled the mermaid endlessly until she cried rather than having this goofball in the movie. It is one of those futile side stories that seemed to plague the previous two movies and added to that excrutiating feeling that you sometimes get as a movie slowly passes the 2 hour and 15 minute mark. Come to think of it, I probably would have cut out the subplot with the Spaniards as well. They just seemed to pop up in the middle of nowhere at various points in the movie. We could have used less Spaniards and more Barbosa.

Not completely. And that’s because the story is dog-eared and done-to-death. Almost every horror film has the wailing ghost of a nubile young maiden who sends outs desperate SOSs to anyone who dares to enter her domain. And don’t we know why she’s wailing! Still, we won’t reveal the secret, which in any case, is hardly a secret….
But if the film works — and it works quite well — is only because of the special effects of the film. Experiencing the horror in 3D is indeed a novel experience for the viewer, specially since it is smartly done. Each time the ghosts lunge out at you, stick out their tongue or flail their limbs, you jump back in your seat. And yes, there are a lot of ghosts, performing a lot of ghastly acrobatics. There’s even a snake sticking out its venom at you and a hurtling brick, almost missing your nose….Great fun.
Other than that, there is the scenic beauty (Pravin Bhatt’s cinematography), a hummable music score (Chirantan Bhatt) and the eye for detail (the film moves back and forth in time) which keeps the hours ticking. Performance-wise, the director has opted for a bunch of new actors to pitch in as the lead pair. Sadly, there’s nothing extraordinary about them and they hardly leave an impact. It’s the veterans, like Achint Kaur and Arif Zakaria who end up giving you the goosebumps. And they do it in adequate measure.

Fifteen year-old Emma Evans has an argument with her mother Lucy since she wants to go to a concert in London with her friends Rose and Alex. When Emma listens to the tape, she believes she is possessed by the devil and asks her parents to be submitted to an exorcism with her uncle, Priest Christopher Taylor. However her skeptical mother is against the ritual and recalls that Chris was responsible for the death of a teenager.
